My Rating:
 9/10

My Thoughts: I really liked this movie. It was so sweet! I watched the anime but it was too slow so I decided to watch the movie. I do not regret my choice :) Even though the movie was kind of slow too, it was worth the watch.

The cast in this this movie was spot on! They were exactly like they are in the anime/manga (except, maybe, Kazehaya). It was uncanny how much they matched! The only exception was Kazehaya. But I like the movie Kazehaya better. He's cuter ;) The acting was pretty good too.

Though I felt the story dragged on, it had some important lessons on friendship and love. Sawako was so innocent and sweet! You couldn't help but like her. Her friends were really nice, I would really like friends like them! The side stories were nice too. Like Chizu and Ryu's almost-love-story.

The humor was pretty good. The movie made me LOL at times. But I think in this aspect, the anime was better.

Kazehaya is the perfect boyfriend! He's so nice and sweet and caring. He's an all-around nice guy. And he has the cutest smile ever! I would love for him to be my boyfriend! No wonder girls liked him so much. And it's so sweet how much he trusted Sawako. How much all of them trusted her.

Sawako was a unique character and I really liked watching how she grew. Maybe I'll read the manga to see what happens next :)

My favorite scene was the last one when Kazehaya finally "reaches" Sawako. Yup, they used the title! And I love it when they do that! =D Oh and when Kazehaya angrily grabs Sawako's hand and takes her outside the gymnasium. Love me some jealous boy!!

Later in life, Takuma becomes aware that he wont be able to keep this promise and he begins distancing himself from Mayu in hopes of protecting her.

My Rating: 9.5/10

My Thoughts: This movie made me cry so much! I've never cried this much while watching a movie since A Walk To Remember. And, though the stories kinda matched (in this the boy had a serious disease, in AWTR the girl did), I think this story was much more sad. Because in AWTR there wasn't really any hope for Jamie to survive. But in IGMFLTY (Yeah, I can't write the whole thing =P) the writer was like "The boy is going to die. No wait, it's ok! He'll be alright. There's still hope... Haha! Just kidding! He really is going to die." So my heart went like "No, he's going to die! But he's so sweet! Why do nice people always have to die?" Then it was like "OMG he can be saved! I knew they wouldn't break my heart like this!" And in the end it was like "Noooo!!! Why do you have to break my heart, stick it together and then break it even harder?!! If you had to kill him, why give me hope first?"

Ok, so I hadn't read the manga before (still haven't) and I have no idea if this has an anime or not. So I didn't know the story at all. I saw this while searching for a movie (I think) and decided to watch it since it looked good. I'm so glad I did! I don't know if the cast is like the people in the manga, but they were pretty good actors.

The romance was so sweet! Takuma and Mayu were lovers since they were kids and when you've loved someone for so long, it makes it all the more harder to let them go. Takuma was such a sweet, nice and innocent guy. And he had such a positive attitude even when he knew he was going to die. He was a sweetheart ♥ Mayu was a perfect match for him. She was a headstrong girl who didn't give up easily.

When I first saw Kou, I was like "That guy needs a psychiatrist!" But what happened to him was really sad. He may have seemed like a crazy guy, but you could also see that he was good at heart. And he had had a rough life. But that doesn't stop me from wishing that Takuma would've gotten Kou's heart, even if it seems selfish.

My favorite part of the movie was when Takuma awakens for one day to take Mayu to their "honeymoon". I kept laughing and crying throughout because I was happy that they got a special day together but I also knew what awaited them at the end of the day.

This was an amazing movie and I highly recommend it if you are not afraid to watch romantic tragedies. But I must warn you, keep your tissues with you while watching it! 'Cause my tears started as soon as the movie did and ended long after the movie had.

Picture time!

Movie Review~Bokura Ga Ita (We Were There)

As Yano struggles to come to grips with Nana's death and his unresolved feelings for her, so too must Nanami learn to understand Yano if the two hope to continue their relationship with one another.

Trailer:

My Rating:
9.5/10

My Thoughts: I loved this movie! I watched the anime first, and this is the first anime that made me cry. After watching the anime, which was half of the story, I came to know that there was also a movie, in 2 parts, which had the full story in it. Since I don't have enough time to read the manga, I decided to watch the movie to know what happens next.

The story is amazing! It's so sad and happy at the same time. Yano didn't deserve what happened to him. But I can't help but feel that in a way, it was his fault. And though Nana irritated me sometimes, I get that she was new at love and that's why she was confused.

All the characters were great! I had a love-hate relationship with Yano. I felt sorry for him and I knew that everything was out of his hands. But it pissed me off when he ran to Yamamoto again and again. Speaking of Yamamoto, I hate her! She made it to my character hate-list which is a big honor for her since it takes a lot of badness to get there. And she was bad. Sorry for my language but I couldn't help but think that she was a bitch.

I loved Take! I liked him more than I liked Yano and that is why I didn't want him to end up with Nana. He deserved someone who would love him as much as he would love her. And Nana loved Yano too much to ever love Take. So I wanted him to have a happily ever after. And I'm so glad he did!

The actors they picked were pretty good. Take and Yamamoto were spot on! And Nana and Yano were a bit different but they played their roles well and it didn't really bother me that much.

My favorite scene was when Yano is leaving and Nana is left behind on the train station and she gives a little speech in which, in the end, she says "We Were There". That made chills run down my spine. Yano & Nana's love was a beautiful disaster, and I loved going on this journey with them!

Now here are some pictures from the movie:

Rating: 9/10
Source: Bought
Cover Talk: I love the cover! I love the mockingjay gold pin, and I love the tech font. And it totally goes with the theme of the book.

My Thoughts: Yes, I finally read it! And I really loved it! The story was amazing! It was different, yet showed the today world and I really liked the whole concept, though I found it vague sometimes.

The writing was brilliant. I loved the witticism used and really enjoyed reading Katniss's thoughts and Peeta's remarks.

I loved the characters! Katniss is such a strong character! She's a true role model and I admired her and appreciated her a lot! She difinitely made my list of favorite heroines. Peeta was really nice and sweet and though I did not develop a crush on him, I did like him. I loved all the minor chacters too and out of them Cinna and Haymitch are probably my favorite.

I can't wait to read the next book! I have a feeling It'll be better than the first one. Let's see if I'm right ;)

About The Author:

Since 1991, Suzanne Collins has been busy writing for children’s television. She has worked on the staffs of several Nickelodeon shows, including the Emmy-nominated hit Clarissa Explains it All and The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo. For preschool viewers, she penned multiple stories for the Emmy-nominated Little Bear and Oswald. She also co-wrote the critically acclaimed Rankin/Bass Christmas special, Santa, Baby! Most recently she was the Head Writer for Scholastic Entertainment’s Clifford’s Puppy Days.

While working on a Kids WB show called Generation O! she met children’s author James Proimos, who talked her into giving children’s books a try.
Thinking one day about Alice in Wonderland, she was struck by how pastoral the setting must seem to kids who, like her own, lived in urban surroundings. In New York City, you’re much more likely to fall down a manhole than a rabbit hole and, if you do, you’re not going to find a tea party. What you might find...? Well, that’s the story of Gregor the Overlander, the first book in her five-part series, The Underland Chronicles.

Suzanne also has a rhyming picture book illustrated by Mike Lester entitled When Charlie McButton Lost Power.
She currently lives in Connecticut with her family and a pair of feral kittens they adopted from their backyard.

The books she is most successful for in teenage eyes are the Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mockingjay. These books have won several awards, including the GA Peach Award.

Movie vs Book

There's no competition, the book was definitely better. I think they did a good job picking the cast for the movie, and since I had watched the movie first I couldn't help but imagine the movie actors as the book characters. But I'm not satisfied with how they followed the story. I couldn't understand half of the stuff in the movie until I read the book. It's like the movie was made for people who had already read the book, just to guide them and help them imagine. But it was stll a nice try. I wonder how they would do in the next movie.

Rating: 9/10
Source: Provided by the author for review. A HUGE 'thank you' to the author for giving me a chance to read & review her book :)
Cover Talk: I don't really like the cover. It does not do justice to the book. Yes, it's very much like the theme of the book, but I think it could've been better.

My Thoughts: I really really liked this book! I did not expect to like it this much. The story was unique and I really liked the idea of mixing troubled teens with supernatural. I think the troubled teens thing would've worked fine on it's own too but the supernatural twist added a nice uniqueness to the story. (just FYI, the supernatural in the book has nothing to do with vampires, if you were wondering)

The writing was really good. I love how the story was told from each characters point of view (in third person) and they all had their own voice and style. I never found it boring and I really enjoyed reading Miss Chapoton's writing.

All the characters were well-devloped and likable. My favorites were Megan and Ben since they were the only ones who were sane :P Actually no, I liked Megan because she was strong. And Ben was such a sweet and nice boy. All through half of the book I kept wishing he wouldn't turn out to be crazy too because I liked him a lot and I didn't want him to turn out to be some lunatic. I liked Emily, and then I didn't. I think she could've saved herself, but she was so damn weak and it really pissed me off! I guessed the Chuck-Adam thing before it was revealed in the book, and I'm so proud of myself :P Well Chuck was ok. I really felt sorry for the guy. I kinda liked Cori from the start, even though she was mean. I had a feeling that she would pull through.

The romance was really sweet. I really enjoyed reading Megan's & Ben's scenes. They created a nice balance in the seriousness of other situations. And Ben & Megan's relationship was really cute!

I was sort of disappointed with the ending. I mean, it didn't really feel like an ending. It felt like there was still something left to say. But it wasn't open-ended either. I just wish there would've been a little further progression in the story. Like a complete happy endng.

All in all, it was an amazing book and I really enjoyed reading it. I would highly recommend it if you like contemporary with a little supernatural twist and some sweet romance.

Book Review~After by Francine Prose

Title: After
Author: Francine Prose
Publisher: HarperTeen
Pub Date: May 11th 2004
Format: Paperback
Pages: 352
Genre: YA, Mystery, Thriller, Realistic Fiction, Suspense
Synopsis: School has become a prison. No one knows why. There's no way to stop it.
Rating: 7.5/10
Source: Bought
Cover Talk: I like it. It's spooky and has the feel of the book.

My Thoughts: I'm really conflicted about this book. I liked the story, and then I didn't. I don't know; it was an unusual story and I'm not really sure how I feel about it.

Basically, what happened was that there were shootings at a nerby school so the protagonist's school had a guidance counselor who slowly took control of the whole school and made it a jail with all these rules and regulations. One by one kids started disappearing and it turns out this was all a part of a bigger plan. I really liked the idea. I also loved the writing because it felt like I was actually reading something written by a 16 year-old boy. Plus I found myself agreeing with a lot of Tom's thoughts.

But I hate the fact that the story felt incomplete. It wasn't the author's fault because frankly, what more could she write? But to be tortured like this, wondering who was controlling the whole thing and why were teenagers disappearing all over the world and STILL nobody noticed. It didn't do well with me.

Moreover, I felt that the story was too long. It could've been a little shorter and still have the same effect. There were many unnecessary details in between which kinda irritated me.

As far as the characters go, I liked all characters. This book didn't need an amotional bond with the characters so I was ok with it's absence, though the author did try to add some but it made the story a tad bit weird. Or maybe that's just what I think. I think Dr Willner (the counselor) seriously needs to go see a psychiatrist. 'nuf said!

All in all it was an ok book. I wouldn't particularly recommend it to anyone but if you want to give it a try then go ahead! Who knows, you may like it better.

Mini Review~Love and Other Four-Letter Words by Carolyn Mackler

Title: Love and Other Four-Letter Words
Author: Carolyn Mackler
Publisher: Delacorte Books
Pub Date: February 19th 2009
Format: Paperback
Pages: 256
Genre: YA, Contemporary, Realistic Fiction
Synopsis: With her parents splitting up, 16-year-old Sammie Davis may not want to feel a thing, but feelings happen. For starters, she’s plenty angry. Her dad’s leaving their upstate New York home and moving clear across
the country. Her mother—well, she’s packing up and relocating to New York City with Sammie, who has no say about any of it. Overnight Sammie is forced to deal with change. And one change spawns another: Roles get reversed, old and new friendships tested, and sexual feelings awakened. It’s a scary time. But as Sammie realizes that things can’t stay the same forever, that even the people she loves and trusts the most can disappoint her, she begins to accept that change isn’t always bad. It’s how you cope, jumbled feelings and all, that counts. And as she copes, Sammie’s sense of self emerges proud and strong.

Rating: 7.5/10
Source: Bought
Cover Talk: The covor's really pretty. I love the guitar case and how it is actually related to the book (Sammie plays guitar). I love the purple background and the fonts, especially how the author's name is written in a circle around the flower. It's really pretty.

My Thoughts: I really liked this book. In a sentence, it was short and sweet. The story was really nice and I enjoyed seeing (or reading about) Sammie grow and mature. She felt a lot of things I sometimes do so it was nice reading how she coped with it.

Sammie, as a character, was good. I liked her voice (as in how she thought) but she didn't really have an impact on me. Her mother really annoyed me and I hated Katie (or was it Katy?). I'm glad she (somewhat) realized Katie was a bitch. Sorry for the language, but I could really relate to Sammie here 'cause I had this so-called "bestfriend" who used me as a therapist and didn't really care about me. So I get a little emotional.

Anyway, I wouldn't particularly recommend this book, as it didn't really stay with me and I'm pretty sure I'll forget about it soon (most of which I already have) but it was nice and if you want then go ahead and give it a try!

Mini Review~Kiss Me Tomorrow by Susan Shreve

Title: Kiss Me Tomorrow
Author: Susan Richards Shreve

Format: Paperback
Pages: 224
Genre: Cotemporary, Realistic Fiction, MG
Synopsis: There are too many men in Blister’s life. Starting with her father, the irresponsible Jack Reed, who’s happy to play the role of “Dad”…as long as it doesn’t inconvenience his wife, Tamara. Rating: 3.5/10
Source: Bought
Cover Talk: I really like he cover, front and back. It's simple and related to the story. But I'm not so sure about the title 'cause it doesn't really go with the story at all.

My Thoughts: The story was ok. The characters were fine too. Nothing special about any of it. But it's the writing that really irritated me. First of all, why did the writer have to use full names EVERYTIME? I get that the character's name is Jack Reed, or whatever. Why did she have to write the full name again and again and again?

Another thing that got on my nerves was the fact that the author repeated the story in every chapter, actually in every other paragraph. I don't see the need to do that. Any person would start the book from the beginning then why would she tell the whole back story again and again? Maybe she thought the readers don't have a good memory and they need to be reminded again. I would've been fine with it if it would've been once or twice, in the whole book. Here, it was once or twice in each chapter!

Other than that, the story, as I said, was fine. It wasn't anyhing special or different but I liked. Or at least I thought it was ok. Characters were your normal, average pre-teens. They weren't memorable or anything but I'm glad they weren't annoying either.

In short, it was an ok book. But I wouldn't really recomment it to anyone.

Favorite Quotes:

“Sometimes, Blister was thinking, the only person in the world she could really count on was herself, and that was not enough.”

“It may be true that you can't judge a book by its cover," Daisy G. had told Blister just last summer. "But the cover tells you something about the book and don't ever pretend it doesn't.”

“I'm sick in the heart," Blister aid, climbing into the car. "I don't need the doctor."

"Heartsick is the worst," Daisy G. said.”

Perfect Chemistry (Perfect Chemistry, #1)

I've had this book on my TBR for ages! And once I even skimmed through it and I remember that I loved the parts I read but I just can't seem to take out the time to actually read the book. Maybe this year I'll get around to actually reading this and the other Perfect Chemistry books.

What books do you have on your shelf, collecting dust?

Shelf Confessions~1

Shelf Confessions is a meme hosted by My Shelf Confessions.

My Confession: I judge a book by it's cover. I think everyone does. It's not like I would only read books which have pretty covers. But I think the cover plays an important role in attracting a reader and I have ended up buying a couple of books based solely on the cover. Though I must say, not a wise choice at all! But sometimes the books ended up being good too.

What about you? Have you ever bought a book because of its cover?

Let the Sky Fall (Let the Sky Fall, #1)

I cannot get over how amazing this cover is! The colors are so beautiful! The clouds and the fields, everything looks so amazing! And I love how the title is simple and the cover is not over-done. And the cover compliments the title.

Cover Comparisons (2)~Pushing The Limits by Katie McGarry

Cover Comparisons is a weekly meme hosted by Fictional Distractions.

Harlequin Teen ~ Mira Ink

I personally like Harlequin Teen version MUCH better. I think it captures the essence of the story better and the models are exactly how I imagined Echo and Noah. The Mira Ink version is... weird? I don't know, I don't really like the editing and effects on that cover. Plus the title is hard to read. I didn't even realize it was there until I actually looked hard for it! So yeah, my vote goes to Harlequin.

My answer: My bed  I love to read snuggled up in my bed. But mostly, I can read anywhere if I'm comfortable. But I can't read standing up or in a moving vehicle 'cause it makes me dizzy.

What about you? What's your favorite reading nook?
